5 Things to Know BEFORE Dress Shopping!

Choose your co-shoppers wisely!

We know it may be tempting to invite your 8 bridesmaids, your future mother in law and sister in law, your own mother and both grandmothers but bringing a huge entourage can lead to stress. The bigger your entourage the more opinions and whilst this can sometimes be helpful many times it leads to disagreements and frustration. Choose the two or three people you are closest with for the best experience.

Wear or Bring the right undergarments.

It is important to go prepared. Walking with the right undergarments such as a strapless bra or body shapers can make the difference between a dress fitting well or not. You also want to walk with a pair of heels so you can better see how the dress will actually fall on the wedding day.

Have an open mind.

Even though you’ve spent countless hours online researching your dream dress, actually trying that style on may make your realize that its not the best compliment for your body type. Keep yourself open to trying something different and your may be surprised that you’ve found the new dress of your dreams.

Do some homework before hand.

Besides researching to get some inspiration on designers and styles also familiarize yourself with wedding dress lingo. Walk into that bridal boutique knowing the difference between an A-line vs a sheath or trumpet as well as neckline shapes such as halter, scoop, v-neck and sweetheart.  Check out this link for a great description of neckline shapes.

Set a budget.

When setting the budget for your dress, do not forget to take into consideration the cost of alterations, veils, shoes and other accessories. If your budget is firm then we suggest you only try dresses that under this budget. You won’t want to fall in love with a dress that you cannot afford.

And don’t forget to HAVE FUN!!!
